For anyone who purchases the newest iPhone this year, it will also supply the iPhone 14 with iOS 16 already installed.
iOS 16: Best Top 12 Features
Here are the new iOS 16.1 features and what they do. Do you want to know more about your iPhone? Examine all of the best settings changes and hidden features that will improve your device.
Advanced Lock Screen
Your lock screen is highly customizable with iOS 16. The lock screen can now be changed, giving it a completely unique look for the first time. The new lock screen allows you to add as many widgets as possible and lets you change the background colors, fonts, and widgets.
Additionally, you can use the lock screen editor to further customize the lock screen by simply pressing and holding it. You have the option to keep as many lock screens as possible thanks to new features in iOS 16.
The Live Activities notification style is a brand-new notification format. You can choose and control which notifications you want to display on the lock screen as they now appear from the bottom.
Battery display updates
The battery percentage can now be shown in the battery meter indicator on iPhones starting with the XR and going up to the most recent versions. It is also easier to read the battery icon due to a slight increase in font size.
Dictation
The Dictation function is yet another fantastic update that came with iOS 16. You may alternate between using speech and touch with the new Dictation function. By simply speaking, you can choose a text and replace it with your voice. This tool also automatically inserts punctuation into lengthy messages. What a cool thing!
Home
With iOS 16, the Home app is also receiving an upgrade. You can now view all of your rooms at once and have options for lighting, climate, security, and more, as well as a better view of your smart appliances. You may watch four cameras simultaneously and get more information about the categories by tapping on them.
iCloud Shared Photo Library
Sharing pictures with your friends and family might be a hassle after a night out or a trip. The iCloud Shared Photo Library, however, allows you to share photos and videos with up to five other people.
Anyone with access to the shared photo library can add, modify, and delete items. When you are physically present with other people who have access to the library, you can add images and upload them straight from your iPhone’s camera.
Wallet app
With the Wallet app, you can securely share information about cars, hotel rooms, and other items using Messages and WhatsApp. A High-Yield Savings Account can also be used by customers with an Apple Card to grow their Daily Cash. If you prefer, you can remove the Wallet app from your iPhone.
Maps
With iOS 16, you can expect a significant update to Maps. Cycling, Look around, and other new features will be available on the redesigned map, which will be available for 11 new countries. With the new update, you can now plan 15 stops for a trip ahead of time. You can ask Siri to add stops to your route while driving.
The new city experience will include unprecedented detail for land cover, road, and elevation and enhanced driving and transit navigation.
Clean Energy Charging
A new Clean Energy Charging toggle in Settings has been added to the Battery section. When you charge your iPhone, you may be able to reduce your carbon footprint. When Clean Energy Charging is enabled, your iPhone will charge only when lower-carbon electricity is available.
Apple Fitness Plus
With iOS 16.1, you no longer need an Apple Watch to use Apple Fitness Plus. With an iPhone 8 or newer, you can track your fitness progress and goals directly from your phone.
Bug fixes
Apple also made a number of bug fixes. These updates deal with issues like conversations that have been removed appearing in Messages, and CarPlay not connecting when using a VPN app, and some Dynamic Island material not appearing when using Reachability.
Accessibility
The new iOS update provides better accessibility by introducing new features and updating the old ones. Some of the updates include:
-
- Buddy Controller to combine inputs from several game controllers.
- New customisation options such as themes, adjusting lines, bolding text, character and word spacing, etc.
- 20 new languages and locales in VoiceOver including Bangla, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Vietnamese, and Catalan.
- Siri Pause Time to adjust how long Siri waits before responding to your command.
- Siri can now be used to announce notifications and auto-answer calls and FaceTime.
Messages
You can now unsend a message for 2 minutes and edit a sent message for 15 minutes. Developers can also integrate app’s collaboration experiences with FaceTime and Messages to manage collaborations. Messages also allows dual SIM users to filter messages based on particular SIMs.
